WOW….We Finally Have a Good PlayStation 2 Handheld!

Available Here:

A Windows handheld with Playstation Vita controls turns out to be a very strong PlayStation 2 handheld. This is an emulation performance test of PlayStation 2 on the GPD WIN Max prototype. This device launches on Indigogo later this month and this video is part of a benchmarking series that I’m doing. This test includes 35 popular PS2 titles from a variety of genres that will hopefully give you a good indication of what this can do.

  • I would like to see Persona 3 FES run on this. It had cutscenes and a lot of 3d overworld stuff that got so intensive they stripped down and completely redid the game to bring it to PSP later on. Would like to see if this handles it all.

  • Too bad it's not using an AMD cpu. You know the cpu made for gaming. It would perform twice as good as an intel with virtually no compromise AND be cheaper by at least $100. All these companies still deep-throating Intel. Hard "no buy" from me till they can put an amd chip in there, reduce screen bezel, use an actual landscape screen, and figure out how tf to set up the keyboard correctly(pc manufacturers back when netbooks were a thing figured this out DECADES ago!) GPD's are such novel items. I only watch these videos in hope someone can convince me otherwise.
Ty for the video though. I may hate the product but I love the videos. Keep up the fantastic work!

  • @0:33 Yes, friend of udon noodles, I can confirm that DamonPS2 is more of a hackjob than PCSX2 and the later has matured pretty well, even though it is far from optimal, since there is no Vulcan option. If someone would port PCSX2 to Android, DamonPS2 had a hard time to compete. Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories works gameplay wise but the FMV sounds like crap.

  • This video was made before the release of PCSX2 1.6 🙂

  • As a PS2 collector, this looks impressive. The "worst" thing I saw was Jak II shadows, Street Fighter Anniversary Collection weird squares and… that's about it. This thing is amazing!

  • OMG, it definitely outperforms the GPD Win2 in MGS2.

  • Just spent £750 quid on the Redmagic 5G (snapdragon 865) and the Glap play bluetooth controller, It runs PSP god of war 60 fps, killzone liberation 60 fps, PS2 Global defense force 60fps.
I'll probably get the Win max for PC titles though.

  • How are RPGs like FFX and DQ8 when used with a fast forward? I'd love to play through them but that grind is torturous

  • Would love to see Gun tested always struggle to emulate that

  • Holy shit thats impressive! If you know anything about PCSX2, you know that it is majorly dependent on a good CPU that relies on single thread performance. Even though its 720p, it is so cool!
