July 30, 2020

Gamecube Forever is a series setting out to cover EVERY Gamecube game. I started with the three Japanese launch titles:
Pikmin was released just a month after launch in Japan, and would be one of the larger group of US Launch titles. Unrelated, I also jumped ahead and covered Metroid Prime:

  • The first time I played this game, I found myself on the fence with it: it intrigued me, but I clearly didn't like it. After playing Pikmin 2 did I understand why, I spent too much time on the Pikmin and not the ship. It was at this point that I really enjoyed the game.

  • Great video! I would say Luigis Mansion was the " first " iconic gamecube game though. Anybody remember the pikmin trailer that came on the luigis mansion disk?

  • You should totally play pikmin 2. Literally an evolution of every aspect of the game and fixes most of the problems you have with the original. Although the caves can get pretty repetitive especially on multiple playthroughs

  • Ayyyy, Pikmin! Love that series. I still play it fairly regularly. Pro-tip for crossing small bridges, flicking the c-stick from side to side forms them into a thin line. My record for 100% completion is around 8-9 days, with… I think it was only 3 pikmin lost.

  • How to save the digibro channel:
    1. Move the podcasty stuff. Things like the metroid prime analysis are fine but stuff like the botw video should be made into a analysis video or put on another side channel.
    2. Make videos like Darling in the Franxx is trigger baby mode and the devolution of tsundere. You have said that these aren't hard to make so just crank them out. It will at least make a lot of money.
    3. Make videos about obviously relevant stuff.
    4. Make a Neon Genesis Evangelion video to coincide with the Netflix reviews and title it like "Evangelion's Masterful Directing" or something

  • fuck i wish these videos got more love. Your bloodborne/ds comparison vid is one of my favorites of yours and ive loved the 4(?) gamecube game vids youve done. Really hope they start to take off, theyre awesome. Also I agree with the earlier comment about loving this "era" of your channel were you just talk about stuff you enjoy. Heres hoping we get to see vids for the other 2 in the trilogy

  • There is so much I love about this series. The first game focuses on time management with some resource management inbetween, the second game takes the inverse, the third game mixes a bit of both…

Also, nitpick, the Distant Spring has 10 parts, which is the most in the game. Not 11. Sorry im a pikmin nerd (who would have guessed).

To think I've gotten 22 days down to 9…

  • Even though the sequels improve a lot in terms of using your pikmin in more creative and interesting ways, the atmosphere and feeling of anxiety from the time limit are still unique to the first one. I really hope you cover the sequels though.
